James Brown

Producer // Engineer
James Brown is our Grammy award winning renaissance man! In his 25 years of record making he’s developed a reputation for filling any role, with stadium bands and independent artists alike. His wealth of experience ranges from recording in the analog and digital realm, producing projects with a wide range of responsibilities and burnishing his own and others recordings with his widely esteemed mixing mastery.

It’s been a characteristically busy couple of years for James.

The beginning of 2014 saw him face the challenge of the making a Foo Fighters record in 8 different rooms in 8 different cities – a process documented by the HBO series “Sonic Highways”… The middle of the year he co-produced and mixed David Ford’s string based ep “The Arrangement”; he undertook vocal recording and production assistance on Rob Thomas’s latest solo effort “The Great Unknown”… While 2015 brought mixing work for Foo Fighters, Spoon, and Portland’s finest, Blitzen Trapper… He also found time to build his own recording and mixing facility, “The Union”.

James has recently produced and engineered the forthcoming Bear Hands album, “You’ll Pay For This”, and recorded the highly anticipated White Lies album.

“The Seventeen is very nice indeed, excellent build quality, killer sound, and that mix control is a brilliant.”
