We often get asked our opinion on how one interface compares to another, so we’ve decided to create a rating system based on subjective A/B listening tests. The scale is from 1-10, with “1” being unimpressive audio quality and “10” being true audio excellence. This is an exponential scale, so going from “1” to “2” isn’t nearly as big of a jump as going from “9” to “10”. Please keep in mind, we only modify an interface if we can make a significant improvement to the sound. All of our ratings are ultimately a matter of opinion. “It’s been 6 years! You modded my MOTU896HD in 2005… I “upgraded” computers and converters to a Lynx Aurora8 with AES16pci card, but for some reason keep listening back to the stuff I did with the BLA MOTU, and I love the sound! Am I crazy?… The Aurora sounds decent, but just flat and lifeless…”

“It’s some 3 months+ now since I got my upgraded MOTU [896HD] back from you guys, and I’m sure you’ve got recommendations coming out the wazoo by now, but I just wanted to add my own. You guys did a sterling job with my “damaged-on-arrival” MOTU box, surpassing my service-level expectations by far, well done. The sound is, as expected, really, really, REALLY good – but it’s no better than the rest of your service, which is really saying something. Well done again. I’m recommending you to everyone I know who would care…”

“I’m getting my Duet mod done because I just had you guys mod my MOTU 896HD. I couldn’t believe how different (i.e.better) it sounded!! I wasn’t prepared for what I heard. I immediately went online to your site and ordered the mod for the Duet and to check and see if you did mods on any other gear I have. Wow, is all I gotta say! Wow!”

“Hi, thanks for the great mod on my MOTU units (2408 Mk3 & 896HD)… big lows, fat mids and never-ending high’s, not to mention my stereo field and stereo placement is beautiful. The difference is simply unbelievable. I can’t believe I have been missing this sound all these years. Thank heavens that your company exists.”
